Finnish utility pilots: who we are looking for

Year 1, SubLay is looking for Finnish electricity distribution partners and the civil contractors who place for them. The goal is controlled first placements of SubLay C Form 1: engineered protective backfill around buried foundations, with a practical monitoring plan on each pilot.

Who we want to talk to

Distribution system owners (DSOs) and related asset owners who bury and maintain reinforced concrete in aggressive ground: pole foundations, substation foundations, cable chambers, and similar assets. Coastal, sulfate-bearing or acidic soils, and salt-loaded roadside environments are the problem set Form 1 is built for.

Civil contractors who already dig and backfill those foundations. You do not need a new specialty crew. You need a clear thickness, compaction, and QC note you can run on a normal day.

Road and bridge teams are a sensible conversation after the electricity-distribution focus and independent EU laboratory work are further along. We still welcome early contact if your site fits, but Finnish DSO foundations are our first focus.

Good first-pilot traits: Finland, accessible for visits, a low-risk asset (not a critical single-point failure), and a buyer willing to allow monitoring and later anonymised learnings. We qualify every lead; not every enquiry becomes a first placement.

What a pilot pack includes

A SubLay C pilot pack is scoped per project. In plain terms it includes:

• Material: SubLay C Form 1 for the agreed contact zone, with lot ID and grade (virgin-mineral when the placement needs it).
• Application guidance: placement steps, thickness intent, compaction and QC notes your contractor can follow.
• Monitoring plan: practical baseline and follow-up (for example lot and thickness records, photos, and optional half-cell or sampling where the buyer allows).

Tonne supply for ongoing Form 1 delivery comes after a successful pilot conversation, with logistics planned around your contractor. Pricing is agreed in the quote for your project.

A pilot request is an enquiry, not an order. We review asset type, region, timing, and decision-makers, then propose scope if it fits.

How to request a pilot

Use the pilot request form. Fill in name, organisation, role, email, and the basics of the asset: type, location, and any timing you already know. Add a short message if you have constraints (winter window, monitoring limits, virgin grade preference).
